Five days after my tooth extraction, I went for my first braces fitting on 11th July 2020.
The process of braces fitting were very comfortable, such that I never felt any much discomfort. Probably just a few slightly pressure.
I remembered how it started from my back molars and then to the front. After which, a seemingly red film was hovered high above my face. I believe this was the glue that sets the brackets in place.
This time round, I only had my top braces done. Usually it is done on both sides. Because... I was late. Oh gosh, a terrible lesson learnt. Never be late for your dental appointments.
On a side note, Dr Ivan did assured me that it will be alright. Due to my condition, having top braces will allow me to "buy" time for my bottom braces. Else, he would have to tighten the bottom ones. Having one side of braces for now means lesser discomfort too I guess. (A blessing in disguise?)
Dr Ivan told me that the most painful or uncomfortable period will be the second or third day. Generally all discomfort should go away by one week.
I remembered I did felt the tension four hours after the fitting. It lasted for almost an hour, and again four hours later. This time by the eighth hour, it felt like ants were bitting on my inner lips too. In my heart, I was just thinking- "I want these off my teeth now!!"
Another one and an half hour later,
Below was the summary of what I really felt and recorded at that time:
12pm- Braces fitting completed
4-5pm- Slight tension
8pm- Tension again. This time, it felt like ants biting my inner lips.
0920pm It hurts, I could feel my frontal teeth moving. The roots are moving.
Generally, it felt like a toothache.
I did not felt any pain from Day 2 onwards, which was quite surprising for me. However, I have also read on some blogs that usually it is the first 12-24 hours that hurts the most. I guess everyone is different. Personally, it was discomfort but it was still manageable.

2nd Update:
A few weeks have passed by. I realised that it is important to give your teeth some time to adjust. It took me around two weeks to adjust back to "normal" food. I would advise to stick to softer foods for the first two weeks.
Generally, it is bearable on usual days. Now, I am able to eat most of the food! (except hard food like nuts, apple and carbonated drinks!)
Stay tune for my next blog post on my second braces fitting for my bottom teeth! :D
